Liverpool GK Adrian Names His Former Club Chief At Betis As Best Nigerian Player He Has Seen
Published: March 24, 2020
Liverpool goalkeeper Adrián San Miguel has picked Champions League winner George Finidi as the best Nigerian player he has seen.
The 33-year-old previously played on the same Real Betis team as Nosa Igiebor, West Ham team as Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike, and has come up against the likes of Peter Odemwingie, Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Isaac Success in the English Premier League, and Odion Ighalo in La Liga.
Understandably, Seville born Adrian has gone for Real Betis legend Finidi, who was director of international football at the Andalusian outfit for a portion of the goalkeeper's spell with Los Verdiblancos.
In a social media post, Adrian named the best players he has ever seen in nine countries : Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Nigeria, England and France.
The other players he selected were Oliver Khan, Lionel Messi, Eden Hazard, Ronaldo, Andrés Iniesta, Gianluigi Buffon, Steven Gerrard and Zinedine Zidane.
Finidi turned out for European clubs Ajax Amsterdam, Real Betis, Mallorca and Ipswich Town.
He enjoyed success at Ajax, winning three Dutch Eredivisie titles, the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Intercontinental Cup.
