Eredivisie Top Scorer Dessers Reveals Favorite Club Is Chelsea; Fan Of Robben, Thierry Henry, Lukaku
Published: April 07, 2020
Heracles Almelo marksman Cyriel Dessers has reiterated that he has the ambition of playing for a club outside the Netherlands and Belgium.
It is only a matter of time before the Super Eagles hopeful departs Heracles, having excelled this campaign with 15 goals in 26 league games, making him the joint top scorer in the Eredivisie along with Feyenoord's Steven Berghuis.
Due to his performances this season, the Belgian frontman earned a maiden invitation to the Super Eagles for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone which was later postponed by the Confederation of African Football.
"My favorite Chelsea player was Arjen Robben, he was always injured, but that was really my favorite," Dessers told the official website of the Eredivisie after revealing that Chelsea has been his favourite club since childhood.
"I used to be a big fan of Thierry Henry, now I love watching Romelu Lukaku."
Back in the Netherlands, the Belgian-Nigerian named Chelsea-bound winger Hakim Ziyech and his main rival for the top scorer award, Berghuis as the two players who have impressed him the most at the moment.
"Berghuis and I are now together at number 1 of the top scorers list. I am really impressed, how he now carries the team at Feyenoord is really strong," Dessers added.
Speaking on his future amid speculation linking him with a summer move to Feyenoord , Dessers said : "Feyenoord is a very nice club, everyone knows that, but I also have the ambition and dream to play outside the Netherlands or Belgium. I think now is the time to take that step."
The 25-year-old Dessers wore the colours of OH Leuven, Lokeren, NAC Breda and FC Utrecht before moving to Heracles Alemelo in 2019.
