Sunderland Set To Receive Transfer Windfall If Rangers Target Maja Leaves Bordeaux
Published: April 08, 2020English Football League One club Sunderland are set to receive a transfer windfall if Nigeria international Josh Maja departs Bordeaux in the next transfer window, according to reports.
The Shields Gazette has reported that the Black Cats inserted a ten percent sell-on clause into the deal taking Maja to Bordeaux in January 2019.
The young striker is on the radar of Scottish Premiership giants Glasgow Rangers who have identified him as a possible replacement for Alfredo Morelos.
Maja is valued in the region of €6.3 million by transfer market experts, meaning Sunderland stand to pocket €630,000 if Rangers should bid for his services at his current market value.
The 21-year-old joined Sunderland on scholarship terms in the summer of 2015, rising through the ranks before he was promoted to the first team and departed the club with 49 games under his belt.
Maja spent time with the youth teams of Crystal Palace and Fulham before he was snapped up by Sunderland.
