Published: April 27, 2020
Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Warburton is optimistic that his EFL Championship players which include Eberechi Eze and Bright Osayi-Samuel will not be moving to new clubs this summer as the coronavirus pandemic continues to take its toll on football.
Speaking on Monday to The Football Show on Monday, a television programme of the Premier League Productions, Warburton stated that there might not be a transfer window as a consequence of the times.
Warburton said: "I don't see how you could have a transfer window. How can you have a transfer window when people are being laid off and not paid?
"The whole game has got to accept that this is an unprecedented situation. How do we respond to it?
"The game can't expect to carry on as per normal.
"There's no doubt we've got two or three very talented young players who will attract interest. Their situation will be key for us."
The coach also spoke specifically about expected interest in Eberechi Eze who has scored 12 league goals and has eight assists in the 2019/2020 season.
The England U21 international has been linked with a summer move to Tottenham Hotspur with a fee of of £20 million being mooted as Queens Park Rangers' asking price for the playmaker.
"He's maintained a great level of consistency, home and away.
"I honestly believe he is a top-six Premier League player all day long," the coach noted.
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Melvin Pinnick spoke with Eze during his visit to London last year with a view to committing his international future to Nigeria, the country of his parents and not England where hr was born and had represented at youth level.
