German Clubs Monitoring Nigerian Striker Labelled The Fastest Manchester United Player
Published: May 09, 2020
Nigeria-eligible striker Deji Sotona's future appears to be away from Manchester United despite his impressive performances for the youth teams of the Old Trafford outfit.
Manchester United first-team stars are shocked that the club's fastest player has yet to sign a professional contract after turning seventeen in December 2019.
Sotona was clocked at a staggering
maximum speed of 22.9mph – more than 1.2mph ahead of second quickest
Diogo Dalot in tests at United's Carrington training
complex last September.
The Athletic via The Sun UK says Sotona could be the latest youngster on the books of an English club snapped up by a Bundesliga team as he is attracting interest from Germany.
With Dillon Hoogewerf inking a professional contract with United less than a month after he turned 17 and another Nigeria-eligible striker in Shola Shoretire guaranteed a pro deal as from next February, Sotona would be right to think his future lies elsewhere.
Sotona scored a brace against Everton in Manchester United U18s last league match of the season, taking his tally to five goals in all competitions for the 2019-2020 campaign.
He will enter the second year of his scholarship with United in July 2020, if he is not offered a professional contract.
