Manchester United On Brink Of Extending Ighalo's Loan; Striker Not Signing New Shanghai Shenhua Contract
Published: May 31, 2020Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Manchester United are in advanced talks with Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua over the extension of Odion Ighalo's loan deal which expires in the coming hours.
Shanghai Shenhua opting to do business with their English counterparts shouldn't come as a surprise as the former Nigeria international has made it clear that he wants to remain at Manchester United.
The latest update is that Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal with Shanghai Shenhua for Ighalo to stay on loan at the Premier League club until January 2021.
Contrary to reports that the Nigerian has to sign a new two-year deal with Shanghai Shenhua before the Chinese club rubber-stamp the loan extension, this website can report with certainty that the former Watford star is not extending his contract with Shanghai Shenhua, meaning he is still tied to the club until December 2021.
Just like the first loan deal taking him to Old Trafford in January 2020, Manchester United have not inserted a purchase clause into Ighalo's proposed loan extension.
The 30-year-old has played an important role since joining United, scoring four goals in eight appearances across all competitions.
