Visa Hitch Delays Ex-Nigeria U17 Star Akinkunmi Amoo's Trip To Hammarby
Published: June 02, 2020
It could take several weeks or a couple of months before former Nigeria U17 international Akinkunmi Amoo is officially presented as a Hammarby player.
The Sidos FC attacking midfielder turns eighteen on Sunday, June 7, the date his four-year deal with the Swedish Allsvenskan side will start running, but a visa hitch has delayed his trip to Stockholm.
The Swedish Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria is not open for business due to the global pandemic, so Amoo cannot apply for a visa.
All things being equal, the processing time for a Swedish visa is fifteen working days but in most cases it takes up to at least one month before the traveling document is issued.
Ahead of Amoo's trip to Sweden, he is training under the guidance of one of the assistant coaches at local club Shooting Stars, Ibadan.
"I have not traveled to Sweden because of this coronavirus crisis, I am still in Ibadan. Until the borders and Embassy are open I cannot travel," said Amoo to allnigeriasoccer.com.
"Hammarby gave me a fitness programme to follow but my coach, the assistant coach of Shooting Stars, also guides me in training activities.
"I am definitely joining Hammarby when everything is clear".

Amoo was one of the stars for the Golden Eaglets at last year's FIFA U17 World Cup, bagging three assists in four appearances during the tournament in Brazil.
