UEFA Confirm European Ban For Nwakaeme's Turkish Club Over Financial Fair Play Rules
Published: June 03, 2020Europe's football ruling body, UEFA, on Wednesday confirmed that Turkish Lig club Trabzonspor have been banned from playing in UEFA tournaments for one season for breaking financial fair play rules.
UEFA confirmed their decision and stated that the club will not be allowed to play either in the Champions League or the Europa League irrespective of their final standing in the table.
The season in Turkey will restart on June 12 with Trabzonspor atop the table with 53 points from 26 league games.
The former club of John Mikel Obi who left the club in acrimonious circumstances due to continued league action in the country despite the Coronavirus pandemic has Super Eagles striker Anthony Nwakaeme in their ranks.
