Arsenal Legend Wright Reveals Saka's Best Position Amid Comparisons To Ashley Cole
Published: June 15, 2020
Legendary Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes that Bukayo Saka's best position is on the wing.
The Anglo-Nigerian has been deployed mostly as a left-back since December 2019 after Sead Kolašinac and Kieran Tierney sustained injuries, and he has flourished in that position, leading to comparisons to former Chelsea defender Ashley Cole, who started his career as a striker before he was converted to a fullback.
"For me he’s a better winger,” Wright said to DAZN, according to Daily Star.
"It’s just because of his ability and how good he is that he can play that position.
"They cannot afford to let a player like this leave, When you look at what Callum Hudson-Odoi has done and he’s a year younger.
"The contract he signed, Saka’s representatives will be saying: ‘Why should I sign for any less?’

"Ashley turned out to be one of the best full-backs in the world but this guy is better further forward."
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported last week that Saka's contact saga with Arsenal is still yet to be resolved though talks are ongoing with his agent, Emeka Obasi.
Wright is backing Saka's contract stance but wants the winger to remain at the Emirates beyond the summer of 2021.
"He’s right him and his representatives to hold out as best they can because he’s the future of the club.

"I believe he will sign but I do think him and his reps are doing the right thing by dragging it out to get the best deal they can. Arsenal is the right place for him at the moment," concluded Wright.
