Ex-Anderlecht Striker Verheyen Insists 4 Million Euros Is Not Too Much To Sign 'All-rounder' Dessers
Published: June 29, 2020
Former Anderlecht striker Gert Verheyen has insisted that Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers, who is on the verge of joining Racing Genk, has a market value of more than four million euros.
It is claimed that the Belgian First Division A side and their Dutch counterparts, Heracles Almelo have reached an agreement for the transfer of the Super Eagles hopeful.
Verheyen believes Dessers has all the qualities needed to be a top striker and has tipped him to make a difference when he eventually completes his transfer to Genk.
"If you buy Bongonda for seven million, four million is not much. I've watched his goals from last season and he's an all-rounder," Verheyen told Het Nieuwsblad, according to Voetbal Primeur.
"Dessers scores with the left, with the right, with the head, by chasing defenders, by using his strength, by using his speed, by his technique.
"And there are goals where he comes in front of the man on a cross from the flank, but also in which he stays behind the man. He potentially has everything."
Dessers ended the 2019-2020 season as the joint top scorer in the Eredivisie with 15 goals from 26 appearances.
