'I'm Really Happy That Saka Signed 'Da Ting'' - Arsenal Captain Aubameyang On New Deal
Published: July 01, 2020
Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is delighted to see exciting winger Bukayo Saka ink a new long-term contract with the club amid speculation surrounding his own future.
The Gabon star, who is out of contract at the end of the upcoming season, netted his 50th and 51st Premier League goals following two defensive errors as Arsenal hammered basement team Norwich City 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Granit Xhaka and Cedric Soares, on his debut, also found the net for the Gunners in the 37th and 81st minute respectively.
Just like the case involving Saka before it was recently resolved, Aubameyang's contract talks have dragged on, raising speculation that he could depart the London club in the summer transfer window.
Quizzed on whether he'll sign a new contract, Aubameyang was quoted as saying by arsenal.com : "I know [fans want me to sign a new contract] and I am really happy that Bukayo Saka signed 'da ting' and now we'll see.
"We'll talk with the football club and see what happens but first of all I am really focused on the games coming until the end of the season, so we'll see."
Saka, who was a non-playing substitute against the Canaries, has 33 first-team games under his belt this season.
