Official : Former Arsenal Schoolboy Tella Extends Contract With Southampton
Published: July 02, 2020
Through a statement on their official website, English Premier League club Southampton have announced that former Arsenal schoolboy of Nigerian descent Nathan Tella has committed his future to the Saints by putting pen to paper on a new deal.
The new agreement between club and player will keep the winger at the St Mary's Stadium until at least the end of the 2022-2023 season.
The 1999-born Tella has seen his stock rise since the resumption of the season, making his professional debut in a 3-0 win vs Norwich City, before he was included in the matchday 20 against Arsenal and Watford.
Speaking on his new deal, he said : "It shows all the hard work I’ve done is paying off. I know I’ve got more hard work to do, but obviously I’m really, really happy.
"I’m still young and I’m still eligible to play for the Under-23s, but I’ve got my sights set on being with the first team as much as I can.
"It’s a great feeling to know the club have shown faith in me. I want to do as well as I can and hopefully cement my place in the first team in the future."
