Young Reading Defender Named In Championship Team Of The Week
Published: July 06, 2020
Young Nigerian defender Gabriel Osho has been named in the Championship Team of the Week after starring for Reading in their 5-0 thrashing of Luton Town on Saturday, July 4.
The Royals U23 captain caught the eye despite making only two appearances in the division - against Middlesbrough and Millwall last term - before stepping out onto Kenilworth Road Stadium turf.
Predominantly a central defender, Osho was deployed as a right-back against The Hatters, and was in action for ninety minutes.
In a 4-2-3-1 formation, the 21-year-old occupied the right-back role and was joined in defence by Barry Douglas (Leeds United), Tom McIntyre (Reading) and Christopher Schindler (Huddersfield Town).
Osho's impressive display helped Reading goalkeeper Rafael post his eleventh clean sheet of the 2019-2020 season.
He is set to bid farewell to Reading at the end of the Championship season after spending thirteen years at the club.
