'He Will Score Against Arsenal This Evening' - Dad Backs Ex-Gunners Target Iheanacho To Continue Good Form
Published: July 07, 2020
Kelechi Iheanacho's father, James Iheanacho is backing the Leicester City striker to continue his good form in the English Premier League by scoring against Arsenal on Tuesday evening.
Arsenal had been in pole position to sign the former Golden Eaglets sensation after he won the Golden Ball award at the 2013 U17 World Cup, only for his advisers to block his proposed move to the Emirates Stadium outfit.
The Gunners hierarchy had sent their former chief scout Steve Rowley to run the rule over Iheanacho during the tournament in the United Arab Emirates and he sent back glowing reports about the Taye Academy product.
Considering his limited playing opportunities, the Super Eagles star has surpassed expectations this season, with 10 goals from 22 appearances in all competitions.
"We chose Manchester City after the World Cup because the deal with Arsenal did not work out," said James Iheanacho to allnigeriasoccer.com.
"Of course, he made the right decision joining Manchester City over Arsenal.
"I have been impressed with his performances this season and by the grace of God he will score against Arsenal this evening."

In six previous outings against Arsenal since his arrival in England, Kelechi Iheanacho has scored just once and that was back in the 2017-2018 season when he opened the scoring for Leicester City in a 3-1 win at the King Power Stadium.
