Osimhen Does A Nicolas Pepe : Super Eagle Waiting For Man Utd, Arsenal Bids; Undecided About Napoli?
Published: July 07, 2020
This could be one of the soap operas of the summer transfer window, with reports suggesting that Lille striker Victor Osimhen has made a U-turn regarding his proposed move to Italian Serie A club Napoli.
Football Italia claims that the Nigeria international will reject a move to Napoli in favour of joining a Premier League side.
Osimhen's decision is reminiscent of that made by Nicolas Pepe, whose entourage visited Napoli's training base in Dimaro last summer, only for the winger to end up in Arsenal for a club-record fee.
The report added that the former Wolfsburg starlet is waiting for the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal to table an official bid for his services.
The word on the street is that Osimhen is being pressured into joining Napoli by the powers that be at Lille and his French agent as he previously expressed concerns about the racism issue in Italy.
Last week, the 21-year-old met Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and manager Gennaro Gattuso, but it now appears that his move to the Blues is not imminent as widely reported earlier.
