Official : Promising Center Back Extends Hamburg Contract By Three Additional Years
Published: July 08, 2020
Promising Nigeria-eligible center back Jonas David has extended his contract with one of the traditional clubs in Germany, Hamburg, informs the official website of the Dinosaur.
The Germany U20 international, whose previous deal was supposed to expire in June 2021, is now tied to Hamburg until 2024, having extended his contract by three additional years.
David was loaned out to third-tier Würzburger Kickers for the second half of the 2019-2020 season to gain first-team experience and he was able to make five appearances before suffering a muscular injury.
Commenting on his new deal, David stated : "I’m very pleased that I will continue to be a part of the HSV family for the years ahead. As a Hamburg native, HSV is a special club for me.
"I want to take the next steps here and establish myself at the professional level. I know that this next step will only be achieved through hard work and therefore am highly motivated going into the preparation for next season."
Last season, David was named in Hamburg's matchday squad on twelve occasions and made a cameo vs Wehen Wiesbaden on game week 12.
The 2000-born defender turned out for Meiendorfer SV and Eintracht Norderstedt before he was snapped up by Hamburg in 2014.
