Nigeria-Eligible Midfielder Reveals Arsenal Beat Chelsea, West Ham To His Signature
Published: July 09, 2020
Promising Nigeria-eligible central midfielder tipped for big things, Miguel Azeez has revealed that two other London clubs had explored the possibility of signing him before he joined the Arsenal Academy at the age of five.
The English-born starlet rose through the Gunners ranks before making his competitive debut for Arsenal U23 squad in a Premier League 2 fixture against Derby County in August 2019.
Touted as one of the brightest young Nigerian players on the books of a Premier League club, Azeez is inching closer to first-team football, having trained with Arsenal's senior squad this season.
Azeez said he did not think twice about joining Arsenal because he supports the club.
In an interview with Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, Azeez said : "I have been with Arsenal since the age of five - long time. I have been with Arsenal ever since, I love the club so I just carried on, working hard.
"Each year, just been improving and listening to feedback I've been getting from coaches, just nurturing my game."

The 17-year-old added : "Obviously when I was around five years old, you trial at a lot of clubs - like Chelsea, West Ham, other clubs as well - but I've always loved Arsenal.
"Arsenal was a club that I support, it's the club that I love, so it was a no-brainer. It was an easy decision for me when they wanted me to join them."
