Agent Reveals Osimhen Did Not Want To Play In Italy Even If It's Juventus For N5.3B p.a
Published: July 28, 2020
Victor Osimhen's agent until two weeks ago, Jean-Gérard Benoit Czajka has revealed that the Lille striker was not interested in playing for an Italian club even for Juventus because of the racism issues in the country.
The Nigeria international is on the brink of completing a transfer to Napoli for a fee of 50 million euros and a salary of four million euros net per season.
Osimhen was pressurized to agree terms with Napoli because Lille's initial business plan submitted to Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion (DNCG) was rejected by French football's financial watchdog.
Czajka started transfer talks with Napoli in March, only for Osimhen to dismiss him and appoint controversial intermediary William D'Avila, a crony to Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr, when the transfer was about to be finalized.
Speaking to France Football, Czajka said : "Yes, and to be honest, Victor did not want to go to Italy.
"From the start, he has been stuck on the idea of playing in Serie A. He told me that racism issues scared him and that he didn't feel it.
"He even told me in March-April: "I don't want to go and play in Italy even if it's for Juventus at €10 million (N5.3 billion) net per year".
Jean-Gérard Benoit Czajka's agency contract with Osimhen would have expired in January 2021 if the Super Eagles striker did not unilaterally terminate the agreement without just cause.
