Three Players Of Nigerian Descent Retained As Derby County Academy Provide Squads Update
Published: August 06, 2020
Three players with Nigerian blood flowing in their veins have been retained by Championship outfit Derby County ahead of the 2020-2021 season.
Derby County have officially confirmed the retained and released list for the U18 and U23 squads following the curtailment of the 2019-2020 campaign.
Left winger Josh Shonibare is among the Rams U23 players under contract beyond the summer of 2020.
Last season, the 22-year-old represented Derby County in the Premier League 2, scoring three goals in 17 matches, and also got a taste of action in the Premier League International Cup.
Joining Shonibare in the U23 squad for next season is highly-rated Republic of Ireland U19 right-back Festy Ebosele, who has been promoted from the U18s.
Ebosele, 18, played in the Premier League 2, U18 Premier League, UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup last season.
German-born midfielder Osazee Aghatise has entered the second year of his scholarship with Derby County.
The former Manchester United and Manchester City youth-teamer made his debut in the UEFA Youth League last season.
