Former Tottenham Whizkid Madueke Scores Hat-trick For PSV First Team In Pre-season Friendly
Published: August 08, 2020
PSV Eindhoven picked up their first pre-season win, beating German 3. Liga side SC Verl 3-0 on Saturday afternoon, with former Tottenham Hotspur youth-teamer Nonso Madueke scoring all the goals for the Dutch Eredivisie giants, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The England U18 international of Nigerian descent was named in the starting lineup and lasted 45 minutes on the pitch as manager Roger Schmidt opted to name two different sides for each half.
Twenty-one minutes into the game, the left-footed Anglo-Nigerian winger broke the deadlock, assisted by Denzel Dumfries.
Four minutes after opening the scoring, the 18-year-old doubled PSV's advantage, making a run into the box before slotting past SC Verl's goalkeeper.
His 43rd minute strike was the pick of the goals, he dribbled a player and fired an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net with his weaker right foot.
Madueke is eligible to play for PSV's U19 and U21 teams in the upcoming season but he has been promoted to the first team, for whom he made four competitive appearances over the course of last season.
