'He's One Of The Best Finishers' - Ex-Liverpool Star Questions Solskjaer's Decision To Bench Ighalo Vs Sevilla
Published: August 17, 2020
Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has questioned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's decision to leave Odion Ighalo on the bench until the closing minutes in Sunday evening's loss to perennial UEFA Europa League winners Sevilla.
With Manchester United trailing 2-1, Warnock was surprised that the former Nigeria international was only brought on three minutes deep into stoppage time.
Prior to the encounter against the Spanish opponents, Ighalo was involved in three goals (2 goals, 1 assist) in his first four appearances in Europe.
"The one who would scare me coming on is Odion Ighalo - he's one of the best finishers I've seen in a long time," Warnock said on BBC Radio 5 Live on Sunday night, according to Daily Star.
"I just don't understand why he didn't bring him on with 20 minutes to go.
"I just don't understand why he didn't bring him on with 20 minutes to go.
"If I'm sat on that bench and I don't come on, I'm furious."
