Chelsea Product Akande Begins Pre-season Training As Swansea City Confirm Signing
Published: August 24, 2020Promising winger tipped for big things, Adrian Akande has started pre-season preparations with Swansea City Academy team ahead of the upcoming season.
He will initially play for The Swans U18s and is also eligible to represent the Welsh club in the Premier League 2 Division 2.
Allnigeriasoccer.com reported more than three months ago that Swansea City had won the race for the signature of Akande after he opted against signing a scholarship with Chelsea.
And Swansea City have confirmed as much via their official website, revealing that Akande is among eleven players offered scholarship terms and will join the club subject to international clearance.
He trained with Manchester United, West Ham United, Glasgow Rangers and Hoffenheim prior to agreeing terms with the Welsh club.
Now a first-year scholar at the Swans, Akande will sign his first professional contract as soon as he turns 17 in October 2020.
A member of the Golden Eaglets squad to last year's Africa U17 Cup of Nations, he made his debut in the Premier League 2 last season at the age of fifteen.
