Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane Runs The Rule Over Versatile Nigerian Midfielder
Published: September 01, 2020
Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is running the rule over versatile Nigerian midfielder Marvin Akinlabi.
Real Madrid youth team expert Julio J. Sánchez Barreda has confirmed that Akinlabi was among the ten Castilla players who trained with the first team on the first day of pre-season on Monday.
Zidane decided to reward Akinlabi with a call-up to the first team on the back of his impressive performances in the UEFA Youth League.
In addition, the French football tactician had no choice but to promote from within with several first team players including Eden Hazard, Sergio Ramos, Marco Asensio, Toni Kroos, Luka Jovic and Gareth Bale away on international duty.
Akinlabi had a hand in four goals (1 goal, 3 assists) in the last three games played by Real Madrid in last season's UEFA Youth League.
An attack-minded midfielder, manager Raúl González deployed the 20-year-old as a winger in his most recent appearances for Real Madrid's youth teams.
