English Premier League giants Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Donny van de Beek from Ajax Amsterdam.

The Netherlands international midfielder has ended a 12-year association with Ajax by penning a five-year deal with Manchester United, with an option to extend for a further year.

Manchester United are one of the most supported clubs in Nigeria and the capture of Donny van de Beek got the fans in these parts excited and many took to social media to express their happiness.

Some Nigerian fans have urged the club to continue their transfer activity by signing two German Bundesliga stars in Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho and RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano; others believe van de Beek can follow in the footsteps of former Dutch players Ruud van Nistelrooy, Robin van Persie, Jaap Stam and Edwin Van der Sar.
