Photo Confirmation: Real Madrid Coach Zidane Still Checking Out Akinlabi Ahead Of Possible Debut
Published: September 04, 2020
Real Madrid first team coach Zinedine Zidane has continued to run the rule over Marvin Akinlabi with a view to handing the Nigeria-eligible winger his competitive debut for Los Blancos in the upcoming season, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Akinlabi is one of the youngsters promoted to first team training after helping Real Madrid to win their first UEFA Youth League title late last month.
Last season, the Palma de Mallorca native represented Real Madrid Castilla in the Spanish Segunda División B - Grupo I and was also available for selection in the UEFA Youth League.
Training pictures published by the official website of Real Madrid confirm that Akinlabi took part in the fourth session of the week held at Pitch 3 at Real Madrid City on Thursday.
The players worked with the ball, completed individual dribbling and accuracy drills and did some tactical work in small groups, and also contested a training match during yesterday's workout.
Akinlabi will be aiming to become the first Nigeria-eligible player to feature for Real Madrid's first team in the upcoming season, something that was not achieved by Derik Osede despite spending thirteen years with the club.
