Nigeria-Eligible Striker Babajide Celebrates England Call-up With First Goal For Liverpool 2020-21 Season
Published: September 14, 2020
Liverpool FC Women Player of the Year, Rinsola Babajide has opened her goalscoring account for the 2020-2021 season, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Sunday's 3-0 win against London Bees is her last appearance for The Reds before she links up with the England squad on September 15 for a training camp at St. George's Park.
The 22-year-old Babajide looked lively in the first half as she created at least two chances not utilised by her teammates.
Three minutes into the second half, Melissa Lawley opened the scoring with a strike from close range, before the Anglo-Nigerian attacker doubled the advantage.
On the hour mark, Babajide beat the London Bees goalkeeper with a right-footed strike from a tight angle, then Rachel Furness added a third right at the death.
Liverpool number 10, Babajide earned caps for England's U18, U19, U20 and U21 teams prior to receiving her maiden call-up to the Three Lionesses.
