Everton Prepared To Offload Super Eagles Star Iwobi To Balance The Books
Published: September 15, 2020
According to the Mirror UK, Everton are prepared to offload Alex Iwobi in the summer transfer window, a year after signing the winger from Arsenal.
Apart from Iwobi, several first teamers namely Sandro Ramirez, Yannick Bolasie, Mo Besic, Matthew Pennington, Theo Walcott, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Bernard and Moise Keane have been tipped for the exit door as Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen to restore balance to his squad.
The proposed sell of Iwobi and other fringe players would help Everton balance their books after bringing in James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucouré from Real Madrid, Napoli and Watford respectively this summer.
The Nigeria international was omitted from Ancelotti's matchday 18 against Tottenham Hotspur, fueling speculation that he's surplus to requirements in the new season.
The Hale End Academy product joined Everton in exchange for 35 million pounds if performance-related variables are included in the fee.
Iwobi contributed to only three goals (2 goals, 1 assist) in his debut season at Goodison Park, his lowest tally in a single season since making his professional debut.
Everton are next in action against Salford City in the League Cup on Wednesday evening and if he's not included in the starting lineup, it is a clear signal that his days at L4 4EL are numbered.
