'The First Nigerian To Score For Man Utd' - Ighalo Reveals His Favourite Moment As A Red Devil
Published: September 20, 2020
Odion Ighalo has revealed that his favourite moment so far as a Manchester United player was scoring his maiden goal for the club in their 5-0 rout of Club Brugge in a Europa League tie back in February 2020.
The goal came twenty-seven days after United confirmed his loan move from Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua and on his full debut after playing three previous games off the bench.
Following his strike against the Belgian team, Ighalo became the first Nigerian-born player to score for Manchester United.
"My favourite moment is when I scored my goal for Manchester United, I was the first Nigerian to play for Manchester United, the first Nigerian to score for Manchester United," Ighalo said to BBC's Mimi Fawaz.
"I could not sleep in the night, waking up checking my phone, messages from all over the world from friends and family, it means a lot to me."

Ighalo made his season debut on Saturday as United surprisingly lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, coming on in the 81st minute to replace Timothy Fosu-Mensah in a tactical substitution by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
