Most Fouled Player Tella Shines Off The Bench For Southampton As Spurs' Kane Sets New EPL Record
Published: September 20, 2020
Former Arsenal schoolboy Nathan Tella made his English Premier League home debut as Southampton were thrashed 5-2 by Tottenham Hotspur in a matchday two fixture on Sunday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Fresh from making his full debut for the Saints against Brentford in the League Cup, Tella entered the game as a substitute to replace Stuart Armstrong midway through the second half.
The winger and playmaker is being given a chance in the first team in the new season by manager Ralph Hasenhüttl as he has been included in every single matchday squad for the 2020-21 campaign.
Jose Mourinho's men secured their first win of the season thanks to four goals from Son Heung-Min's, all of them assisted by Harry Kane, who added a fifth for the north London side in the 82nd minute, while Danny Ings bagged a brace for Southampton.
According to OPTA, the England captain became the first player in Premier League history to assist the same player four times in a single match.
Despite spending only a quarter of the game on the pitch, Tella caught the eye; he was the most fouled player in action, winning a game-high four free-kicks for Southampton.
