Real Madrid's Akinlabi Training With First Team Ahead Of Trip To Real Betis
Published: September 24, 2020
Real Madrid new kid on the block Marvin Akinlabi is in contention to make his second appearance for the first team when they visit Real Betis for the third round of matches in La Liga on Saturday, September 26, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane monitored the right-sided midfielder at close quarters during Wednesday's workout at Real Madrid City, with a view to his inclusion in the matchday squad.
The Spanish champions have not made any notable signings in the ongoing transfer window as they are looking to cut costs as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Zidane plans to utilise some of the outstanding players in the Castilla squad, a team he was coaching until 2016 when he was appointed first team coach.
Akinlabi looked lively when he came off the bench for the last 20 minutes of the goalless draw at Real Sociedad on his debut for the first team.
The Nigerian Federation and Super Eagles coaching staff are keeping tabs on the Spanish-born youngster ahead of a possible call-up to the national team.
