Official Assures Osimhen Is Available For Eagles Duty Despite Positive COVID-19 Cases In Genoa Squad
Published: October 01, 2020Super Eagles Media Officer Toyin Ibitoye has assured that Napoli's record signing Victor Osimhen will be available for the national team's upcoming friendlies against Algeria and Tunisia taking place in Austria.
The 2015 U17 World Cup winner made his full debut for Napoli in their 6-0 demolition of Genoa on September 27.
But there were concerns after the game at the San Paolo Stadium with worrying news that fourteen Genoa players and staff returned positive tests for coronavirus.
Napoli confirmed on Wednesday that all of the tests have returned negative results and the next round of testing will take place on Thursday afternoon ahead of their Serie A match against Juventus on Sunday.
"Up till now there are no issues around Osimhen, he'll be okay," Ibitoye stated.
"These things happen all the time, his club will test him again, you know testing is something that happens all the time, before and after every game so we are sure Osimhen will have no issues.
"We know football has resumed, a lot of cases of players testing positive and then further tests will clear them.
"Ibrahimovic the other day was positive. I'm sure Osimhen will be good, at least up till now we don't have any issues of Osimhen not showing up."

With four goals and two assists, Osimhen has been involved in 67 percent of the goals scored by Super Eagles since the conclusion of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
