Switzerland Set To Beat Nigeria To The Services Of Brand New Parma Signing Sohm
The Swiss Football Association are poised to beat their Nigerian counterparts to the services of exciting defensive midfielder Simon Sohm, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Born to a Swiss mother and Nigerian father, the 19-year-old could become cap-tied to Switzerland as early as this coming Saturday when the Rossocrociati battle Spain in a UEFA Nations League game, and also stands a chance of debuting for the senior national team three days later when they tackle Germany in another UEFA Nations League clash.

One of the most highly-rated Swiss-born prospects, Sohm became provisionally cap-tied to the Switzerland when he started from the off against Northern Ireland in an U17 EURO qualifier in October 2017, and has captained the U15, U16, U17, U18 and U19 national teams in the past.

Should he feature in only the friendly against Croatia on October 7, he will remain eligible to play for the Super Eagles.

The Zurich-born midfielder was a non-playing substitute for the two UEFA Nations League matches against Ukraine and Germany in September.

On Sunday, Italian Serie A club Parma announced the signing of Sohm from FC Zurich on a five-year deal, until June 2025.

Sohm played 45 matches for FC Zurich's first team in all competitions, scoring one goal before switching to Parma.
