Confirmed : Ajax Amsterdam's Nigerian Winger Joins Arsenal
Published: October 06, 2020
Through a statement published on their official website on Tuesday, English Premier League club Arsenal have announced the signing of Nigerian winger Joel Ideho on a professional contract, subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
Ideho was included in Netherlands U18 provisional squad list for friendly matches against France this month but the games have been cancelled by the Royal Dutch Football Association in response to the growing coronavirus problem.
Aged 17, he spent time at the academy teams of RKTVV, SC 't Zand and Willem II before joining Ajax Amsterdam earlier this year.
Ideho departs Ajax Amsterdam after six competitive matches for their youth teams, including four in domestic competitions in the new season.
He scored against FC Midtjylland in the quarterfinals of last season's UEFA Youth League, three minutes after his introduction as a substitute.
The pacy winger, who has cited former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha as his role model, is eligible to represent Arsenal U18 and U23s team this season.
