Arsenal New Boys Ideho, Akinola Left Out Of Europa League Squad List
Published: October 10, 2020
Arsenal new boys Joel Ideho and Tim Akinola will not make their Europa League debuts in the group stage of this season's competition, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Gunners have submitted a 24-man list to UEFA following the close of the summer transfer window, with no Nigeria-eligible player making the List A.
The list includes new Brazilian signings Gabriel and Willian in addition to Ghana national teamer Thomas Partey, who joined from Atlético Madrid just before the close of the transfer window.
Several players of Nigerian descent including Bukayo Saka, Ryan Alebiosu, James Olayinka, Folarin Balogun, Miguel Azeez and Arthur Okonkwo are eligible to be included on Arsenal's List B, provided their names are submitted no later than 24:00 CET the day before each match.
Akinola and Ideho are U21 players but cannot be added to the List B because they have spent less than two years at the Emirates Stadium outfit.
The two promising teenagers are eligible to represent Arsenal in domestic competitions including the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy.
Arsenal face Rapid Vienna, Molde and Dundalk in Group B of the Europa League.
