Okereke, Dennis Named In Club Brugge Matchday Squad For Champions League Game At Zenit
Published: October 19, 2020
Two former Nigeria U23 internationals in the shape of Emmanuel Dennis and David Okereke are in line to add to their appearances in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Both attack-minded players flew to St. Petersburg with the Club Brugge squad on Monday morning.
Twenty-three players were in the traveling party, meaning it is certain that Dennis and Okereke will be named to the matchday squad against Zenit on Tuesday evening as Europe's football governing body UEFA have confirmed that 23 players will be permitted on a matchday sheet.
The two Nigerians were given the green light to travel to St. Petersburg after testing negative to coronavirus ahead of the trip to Russia.
The matchday one fixture is expected to go ahead as planned despite three Club Brugge players testing positive for the virus including Mignolet, Kossounou and Krmencik.
While Okereke appeared in four Champions League matches last season, Dennis made six starts and got on the scoresheet twice against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, before notching an assist in the reverse fixture at
