Twelve U21 Players Eligible To Represent Nigeria Named In Arsenal's Premier League Squad
Published: October 20, 2020Twelve players eligible to represent the Nigeria national teams have been included in Arsenal's Premier League squad for the first half of the 2020-2021 season, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The twelve youngsters were born on or after 1 January 1999 and have been registered as U21 players.
Goalkeepers Arthur Okonkwo and Ovie Ejeheri, defenders Zachariah Awe, Daniel Oyegoke, Mazeed Ogungbo and Ryan Alebiosu, midfielders Miguel Azeez and Tim Akinola, strikers Bukayo Saka, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Folarin Balogun and Joel Ideho are all part of the Gunners' U21 list.
The U21 list also includes three other players of Nigerian descent in Joseph Olowu, Tolaji Bola and James Olayinka but they have been loaned out to Cork City, Rochdale and Southend United respectively, so won't be available for selection.
Of the aforementioned players, only Saka has featured for Arsenal's first team and the versatile winger has clocked up 30 appearances in the Premier League since his debut against Fulham on January 1, 2019.
The youngest Nigeria-eligible player on the list is 2004-born center back Awe, who has represented England at U16 level and shares the same agent as Saka and Folarin Balogun.
