Ighalo Named In Manchester United's Provisional Squad To Face Istanbul Basaksehir
Published: November 03, 2020
Odion Ighalo has been named in Manchester United's provisional squad to face Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir in a Champions League game on Wednesday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Although former Dream Team VII captain Azubuike Okechukwu is not available for selection as he's still recovering from injury, there's Nigerian interest in the matchday three fixture, with Ighalo in contention to feature.
The Shanghai Shenhua loanee was among the twenty four Manchester United players that boarded an Aeroflot flight to Turkey on Tuesday afternoon.
It is not a forgone conclusion that Ighalo will be selected in the matchday squad as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must drop one player from the squad list at least one and a half hours before the start of the game at Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadyumu.
The 31-year-old is battling Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford for one of the spots in attack against the Super Lig side.
Manchester United did not add Shola Shoretire to the List B before their trip to Turkey though the winger is eligible for the Champions League having spent more than two years at Old Trafford and he's an U21 player.
