'We Could Have Sold Him Earlier' - SC Heerenveen Manager Happy To Receive 12M Euros For Ejuke
Published: November 04, 2020SC Heerenveen Technical Manager Gerry Hamstra says he is delighted that CSKA Moscow agreed to sign Chidera Ejuke for twelve millions in the summer transfer window.
Hamstra disclosed that up to six bids were tabled for the exciting winger before his valuation was met.
The one-cap Nigeria international was linked with possible moves to clubs in Netherlands, France, Turkey and United Arab Emirates but the Russian Premier League giants eventually won the race for his signature.
Ejuke had a banner first season with SC Heerenveen, netting ten goals and providing six assists in 29 appearances and was statistically the best dribbler in the Eredivisie.
In quotes carried by feanonline.nl, Hamstra said on Ejuke : "We could have sold him earlier, but then you wouldn't have sold him for such a high amount.
"The bid has been raised five or six times. In the end it was good that we waited so long, but that was at the expense of the preparation.
"I wanted to act earlier, but I also understand very well that the club does that, preferred not to because of the uncertainty in corona time".
Ejuke is expected to be involved on Thursday as CSKA Moscow take on Dutch side Feyenoord Rotterdam in a Europa League match.
