Common Goal : Genk's Dessers Follows In The Footsteps Of Jurgen Klopp, Juan Mata
Published: November 20, 2020Nigeria international Cyriel Dessers has joined the Common Goal movement and has pledged one percent of his annual wages to the charity.
In doing so, the Racing Genk striker has followed in the footsteps of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, Manchester United star Juan Mata and Juventus striker Paulo Dybala.
Founded by Jürgen Griesbeck, the movement was created to build a sustainable and lasting connection between the football industry and social change.
"I've always believed that football players also bear a social responsibility," said Dessers to HLN.
"Football is the biggest sport in the world and as a football player you have a large audience that you can appeal to.
"In this way I would like to mean something for people who are having a harder time. "
Legendary Super Falcons defender Onome Ebi, Super Eagles center backs William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun are current members of Common Goal.
