Iwobi Likened To Maicon By Ex-Arsenal Teammate Lacazette After Starring At Wing-back
Published: November 23, 2020
Alex Iwobi has taken to social media to celebrate Everton's 3-2 win against Fulham in a Premier League clash at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti took everyone by surprise by deploying the Nigeria international as a right wing-back despite being an attack-minded player, and he put in arguably his best shift as an Everton player and the stats back that up.
The Super Eagle completed six take-ons, more than any other player on the pitch and finished the game with two interceptions, two tackles and two clearances, made nine recoveries and had a passing accuracy of 88 percent.
It was the fourth position Iwobi has played since his move to Goodison Park in the summer of 2019 having previously played as a left winger, right winger and attacking midfielder.
Writing on Instagram, Iwobi stated : "RWB 🏃♂️💨 +3 We Mooove".
The post has been liked by 54,616 people and drew reactions from some of his teammates past and present, including Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette who likened Iwobi to the legendary Brazilian right wing-back Maicon.
Commenting on the post, Lacazette wrote : "Maicon 🔥".
Super Eagles right wing-back Tyronne Ebuehi and Samuel Chukwueze praised Iwobi for his performance against Fulham.
Ebeuhi wrote : "I liked what i saw 👀🏃🏾♂️💨🔥".
Chukwueze added : "Good one fam ❤️💪"
