Osayi-Samuel Shines With Goal And Assist For QPR In Win Vs Rotherham United
Published: November 24, 2020
Nigerian-born winger Bright Osayi-Samuel was the star of the show as Queens Park Rangers' resurgence continued with a 3-2 victory over Rotherham United at the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium in London on Tuesday night, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Osayi-Samuel's contract situation has been an issue in recent weeks so much so that he was left out of the matchday squad against Barnsley before missing the trip to Blackburn Rovers due to fitness concerns but tonight he showed the quality that has made him a transfer target for clubs in England and abroad.
With 20 minutes gone, Queens Park Rangers took the lead through Ilias Chair, assisted by Osayi-Samuel before Michael Smith restored parity on 38 minutes.
In the first minute of first half stoppage time, the London team retook the lead, Osayi-Samuel firing home after skipping through the Millers backline.
It was his first goal since he bagged the equaliser in a 1-1 draw vs Middlesbrough on September 26.
The Hoops were very much in control at the interval with Lyndon Dykes adding a third from the penalty spot.
Six minutes from time, former Flying Eagles invitee Freddie Ladapo tapped home the rebound after Nigerian center back Michael Ihiekwe struck the post.
Nigerian-born winger Odysseus Alfa was an unused substitute for the home team and former Manchester United starlet Matthew Olosunde entered the game as a substitute on the hour-mark.
