Hoogewerf Scores First Hat-trick For Manchester United Youth Team
Published: November 28, 2020
Dutch-born striker of Nigerian descent Dillon Hoogewerf netted his first career hat-trick for Manchester United youth team in a 4-1 rout of Newcastle United in an U18 Premier League game at the AON Training Complex on Saturday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Before this fixture, the Netherlands youth international had not managed to score a treble since his arrival from Ajax Amsterdam in the summer of 2019 but bagged braces against Newcastle United U18s in the league and Lincoln City in the FA Youth Cup.
The Red Devils led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Hoogewerf who smashed a left-footed finish into the roof of the net.
De Bolle put the Magpies back on level terms with a brilliant solo goal four minutes into the second half before Hoogewerf restored United's one-goal lead in the 53rd minute.
Just past the hour mark, the Dutch-Nigerian teenager clipped in a brilliant finish for 3-1 and Savage wrapped up the scoring with six minutes left on the clock.
Following their seventh win in eight games, Manchester United top the U18 Premier League North standings with 21 points ahead of next weekend's big clash against Liverpool.
