Real Madrid's Marvin Akinlabi Gets Through Comeback Game Unscathed
Published: November 29, 2020
Spanish-born attacking midfielder of Nigerian descent Marvin Akinlabi has returned to action for Real Madrid Castilla after spending more than one month on the sidelines, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Before Sunday afternoon's meeting away at Poblense, Akinlabi had not figured for Los Blancos reserve team since October 25 when he went the distance against Getafe in the Segunda División B - Grupo V, missing subsequent matches with Rayo Majadahonda, Navalcarnero and Atlético Baleares.
The Spanish-Nigerian made his comeback when manager Raul brought him on to replace Dotor in the 63rd minute and he came through the game unscathed.
Though the 20-year-old did not score or assist on his return, he helped Real Madrid twice come from a goal down to secure a 2-2 draw against Poblense and take the capital outfit three games unbeaten.
Aitor's first half goal was cancelled out by Hugo Duro in the 76th minute, Alberto made it 2-1 in the 83rd minute and three minutes later the second Real Madrid goal would come through Arribas.
Akinlabi became the first Nigeria-eligible player to feature for Real Madrid's first team when he made his La Liga debut against Real Sociedad on September 20.
The 20-year-old has been registered by the Spanish champions for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
