Bayern Munich Product Adeyemi Becomes Salzburg's Youngest Ever Scorer In Champions League
Published: December 01, 2020Bayern Munich academy product Karim Adeyemi opened his goalscoring account in the UEFA Champions League as Red Bull Salzburg recorded a 3-1 win over Lokomotiv Moscow on Tuesday evening, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The highly-rated Germany youth international came off the bench to replace Sekou Koita 20 minutes from time, his second appearance in the group stage of the competition.
Adeyemi put Salzburg two goals ahead again when he used his power and precision to get himself in a goalscoring position and fired low into the net in the 81st minute.
Aged 18 years and 318 days today, he celebrated his important goal with a backflip.
Two first half goals from Mergim Berisha put the visitors in the ascendancy but an Anton Miranchuk penalty halved the deficit before Adeyemi sealed the win with Salzburg's third goal.
Munich-born Adeyemi, who is eligible to represent Nigeria and Romania internationally through his father and mother respectively, is the youngest ever player to score for Salzburg in the Champions League.
If Atlético Madrid fail to beat the defending champions Bayern Munich tonight, a home win for Salzburg against the La Liga side on matchday six will send the Austrian champions through to the last sixteen.
Adeyemi spent two years at the Bayern Munich academy, between 2010 and 2012.
