Manchester United Striker Ighalo Delighted To Make Champions League Debut Vs PSG
Published: December 03, 2020
Former Nigeria international Odion Ighalo is delighted to make his UEFA Champions League debut for Manchester United in Wednesday night's 3-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford.
The Shanghai Shenhua loanee has fallen out of favour at the Red Devils this season following the arrival of Uruguay marksman Edinson Cavani.
Before the visit of last season's finalist, Ighalo had not featured for Manchester United for 62 days with his last appearance coming against Brighton & Hove in the Carabao Cup on September 30.
The form of Marcus Rashford and Cavani, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's decision to stick with Anthony Martial has made it difficult for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer to break into the starting lineup.
Against PSG, Solskjaer pulled a surprise when he brought on Ighalo as a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the 90th minute and with his side trailing 2-1.
After the game, the official fan page endorsed by Ighalo, 'Jude Ighalo Fans' posted on Twitter, "Uefa Champions League Debut For This Man Tonight 😍❤️ #ighalo", and the United number 25 liked the tweet.
Ighalo's original loan deal would have expired on June 30, 2020 but he earned himself a new deal until January 2021 on the back of his impressive performances in Cup competitions.
