Fulham's Aina, Palace's Eze Battle Vardy, Mahrez, 4 Others For Premier League Goal Of The Month
Published: December 04, 2020
Two London-born players of Nigerian descent in the shape of Fulham's Ola Aina and Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze are among the nominees for the Premier League Budweiser Goal of the Month award for November 2020.
Eight spectacular strikes have been shortlisted for the monthly accolade and the two Nigerians face competition from Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez, Leicester City's Jamie Vardy, Southampton duo Danny Ings and James Ward-Prowse, Brighton & Hove's Solly March and Leeds United's Raphinha in their bid to win the prize.
While Aina has been picked for his strike against West Brom on November 2, Eze's effort against Leeds United on November 7 made the shortlist.
Thirty minutes in at Craven Cottage against the Baggies, the Super Eagles right-back doubled
Fulham's advantage with a wonderful strike into the top corner - his
first goal in the Premier League in his seventh appearance.
Against Leeds United, Eze scored with a brilliant free-kick midway through the first half, also his first goal in the English top-flight.
Aina and Eze will be aiming to become the first player of Nigerian descent to win the Premier League Goal of the Month since the inception of the award in the 2016-2017 season.
The winner will be chosen by the supporters' vote combined with the choices from a panel of experts and will be announced next week.
