Spanish Club Leganes To Pay Chelsea In Four Installments For Signing Super Eagles Star
Published: December 19, 2020
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Spanish La Liga 2 club CD Leganes have not paid Chelsea the full transfer fee for the signing of Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo in the summer of 2019.
According to the paperwork cited by this website, Leganes will pay Chelsea the 4.1 million euros transfer fee in four equal installments.
Chelsea received €1,025,000.00 on September 30, 2019 and it is confirmed that they got the second installment on September 30, 2020, while Leganes will make the third and fourth payments on September 30, 2021 and September 30, 2022 respectively.
Sunshine Stars, from where Omeruo transferred to the Blues, are entitled to five percent of any sum in excess of the 400,000 euros paid for the central defender in January 2012.
In line with strict English Football Association rules and global best practices, Chelsea will only pay Sunshine Stars their share of the transfer fee at the same time Leganes pay the Stamford Bridge outfit their due transfer fee installments, meaning the Nigeria Professional Football League club are expecting two more installments.
In a seven-and-a-half-year association with Chelsea, Omeruo did not play an official game for the London club and enjoyed loan spells at ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Kasımpasa and Alanyaspor before joining Leganes initially on loan before the deal was made permanent.
