Heracles Almelo, Cologne, Eintracht Frankfurt Battling For Bayern Striker Zirkzee
Published: January 04, 2021
Young Dutch-Nigerian striker Joshua Zirkzee is being linked with a departure from European champions Bayern Munich in the January transfer window.
According to German magazine Kicker, the Netherlands youth international is wanted by Eredivisie side Heracles Almelo but they face competition from the Bundesliga for his signature.
FC Cologne and Eintracht Frankfurt have both been credited with an interest in the Feyenoord Academy product.
Zirkzee has found game time hard to come by in the current season following the arrival of experienced Cameroon international Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting last summer, and he's now third choice in the pecking order of strikers.
This season, the 19-year-old has played five games for Bayern Munich's first team, logging a paltry 102 minutes combined.
Zirkzee is under contract with the Bavarians until the end of the 2022-2023 season.
Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr saw firsthand the qualities of Zirkzee when he personally
scouted him on his full Bundesliga debut against Hoffenheim in February 2020.
