'He Won't Stay With Genk Long' - Ex-Ajax Striker Predicts Move For Onuachu
Published: January 07, 2021
Former Ajax Amsterdam striker Wesley Sonck believes Paul Onuachu has put himself in the shop window on the back of his impressive performances for Racing Genk this term.
By netting a hat-trick vs KAS Eupen on Wednesday night, the Nigeria international took his tally for the season to 18 goals in the league, equaling his personal single-season scoring record in the process.
"He will not stay with Genk long. But maybe the striker can make the current number 2 champion this season?" Sonck was quoted as saying by Sporza.
Wesley Sonck plundered 30 goals for Genk during the 2001-2002 season to win the top scorer award and he is backing the Super Eagle to equal or surpass that tally provided he stays injury-free.
"That could well. He must be spared injuries. He still has time, but it is indeed a long time ago that anyone could present such figures."
The former Belgium international highlighted the main attribute of Onuachu, saying he's lethal with his head.
"He moves reasonably well and has very good feet for his height. You knew that he would score goals. He is over 2 meters tall: if you throw a ball into the box, you know he will win a header.
"But so many goals, that's impressive, yes. I didn't expect that," Sonck concluded.
