Crystal Palace, Millwall, Stoke, Blackburn, Real Salt Lake Interested In Man City's Nigerian Defender
Published: January 10, 2021
Crystal Palace are among five teams that have expressed interest in signing Irish-born defender of Nigerian descent Timi Sobowale, according to reports.
The Daily Mail claims Sobowale, a Republic of Ireland U19 international, appears set to leave Manchester City and he is on the agenda of Palace and Championship clubs Millwall, Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers.
The 18-year-old has held initial discussions with Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake over a transfer.
He signed a two-year scholarship with Manchester City in July 2018,
snubbing the overtures of Tottenham Hotspur, whom he had trained with
before agreeing terms with the former Premier League champs.
Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City and Palace know all about Sobowale as he trained with the clubs last season but a deal has yet to materialize and they are back keeping a close watch on the situation of the Irish-Nigerian.
He has not figured for Manchester City's youth teams since he came off the bench against Lincoln City in a Papa John's Trophy clash in November 2020.
